Mental Health in Tech Industry

Inspiration behind this article is to try and bring to light, what are the strongest predictors/causes of mental health illness and attitude towards mental health in workplace.

For the analysis that are presented in here, the data-set used is from a 2014 survey that measures attitude towards mental health and frequency of mental health disorders in the tech workplace.

Analysis:

From the first set of result/chart you will get insight into answers to the following questions:-

  • How easy is it for them to take medical leave for a mental health condition?
  • Would they be willing to discuss a mental health issue with coworkers?
  • Would they be willing to discuss a mental health issue with direct supervisor(s)?

The next set of result/chart will help you get answer to the below questions:-

  • Have they sought treatment for a mental health condition?
  • Does the employer provide mental health benefits?
  • Do they know the options for mental health care the employer provides?
  • Has their employer ever discussed mental health as part of an employee wellness program?


    And this final set of result/chart will be answering these questions:-

    • Does their employer provide resources to learn more about mental health issues and how to seek help?
    • Do they think that discussing a mental health issue with your employer would have negative consequences?
    • Do they have a family history of mental illness?
    • Have they sought treatment for a mental health condition?
